Reflections on Loss and Commemoration
August 19, 2011–May 14, 2012
The Wolfsonian–FIU @ 1001 Washington Avenue
In 2011, to mark the ten years since the events of September 11, 2001, The Wolfsonian presented works from the collection that reflect ways in which visual artists recorded and commemorated disaster, tragedy, and loss in the early twentieth century. The installation invited visitors to contemplate how artistic works express events, thoughts, and feelings that are beyond ordinary expression.
Reflections on Loss and Commemoration was presented as part of Florida International University’s public-program series Unity/Diversity: Reflecting on the Meaning of 9/11.
